Hi,

I understand the need for the extra samples at the beginning and end of
the original file due to the MDCT, etc.

However, I see that the 'lame' decoder is actually stripping off the extra
samples after decoding MP3 back to Wav to achieve time coherency. How
does it know how many samples to strip off? Different encoders can add
varying start padding during the WAV-to-MP3 process. Is this strip length
hardcoded into the 'lame' decoder?

I saw on this mailing list some indication that can be information stored
in the MP3 header. Is this used here?

Also, the tail padding is not stripped yet, right?

Gopal
