Can you check the file and see if it has an id3v2 tag?
By default, LAME will not add one.

I think the problem is caused by the fact that we no longer use the
more common 48kbps Xing VBR header, but a larger (128kbps?) VBR header
- but I haven't tested this.   WMP 8 requires Win XP?
