Ok, I'm kinda new, and i'm sure you guys get this kind of thing all the
time, buti'll get to the point.

Ok, i'm running Mandrake 8.1 on a PIII 1GHz with 956M ram. I have recently
upgraded to gcc 3.0.4. I also downloaded the LAME source for 3.91 and
compiled it. Although, when I actually used LAME, the mp3 was all garbled
and messed up. When playing in xmms it jumps time, mono/stereo, bitrate,
etc.(Sounds like crap basically) My question is, is there a problem with
compilingwith 3.0.4? Has anyone tried it? I encoded the wavs with oggenc and they
play fine, so I know the wavs are good. Also, I used Grip to do this, and
allprograms that came with Mandrake. LAME is the only compiled piece by me.

Hope someone can help me with this, I would really like to use LAME.

Thanks,
BK
