I was told to check the options for Lame, and when I did found
an option called "--nogap" which, if used with a number
of files, will cause Lame to create gapless MP3s, presumably
by "borrowing" a small number of bytes at the start of one file and tacking them on to the end of the previous file so there are no partial blocks that cause silence.
My question is: does this feature work well? The person who
brought it to my attention said that he thought it had problems
and didn't work properly. Does anyone use it? How well does
it achieve its goal?
