Well, why don't you go ahead and write some world-class file-type recognition code that is system independent, easily extendable and avoids this mistake? It would seem to be a rather nice addition to the world-class mp3 encoding code that is in Lame. I would also make it possible to produce error messages that even drunk users can understand. But the part that really makes me wonder, do you always treat people like this? You get something for free that works rather well and propose to shoot the people who gave it to you because they forgot to paint it green? Isn't that a tad ungrateful?
