Okay... I did some searches to find out just what the .cfg file >does<, what sorts of things it sets, and didn't find anything. > > The information there is dated: 12/Nov/2002 > > > > I also found another page that describes setting up EOL here that is > > dated January 30, 2003, but does not mention anything about setting up > > a .cfg profle file. Im guessing youre saying that by adding the .cfg file last, its settings will take precedent over the wizard settings, and the other manual settings I configured using the 2nd procedure described above. I didn't encounter any problems. But I was just wondering if the .cfg file may have altered some of the settings that I set up manually and by the wizard when I first set up EAC. I'd just like to know what the .cfg is setting in order to know if they are things I >want< set. Another reason I'm curious is because EAC reported the same external CD-R/RW drive to be an Adapter #1 on my Toshiba Libretto 100CT sub-notebook, and as Adapter #0 on a Libretto 70CT. And I'm wondering if the adapter type is determined by the combination of the system hardware and the drive hardware, or if it's supposed to be determined exclusively by the drive hardware. > If it's the latter, > you can hang around HydrogenAudio for a while and learn all sorts of > things www.hydrogenaudio.org Indeed... I did post this same note in the CD Hardware/Software forum over there. I got one brief reply saying that the .cfg file will, store all of your setting (sic), but Im still curious about just what the settings are, and whether the .cgf profile for Adapter #1 is in fact the correct one for this Libretto 100CT. That 2nd installation procedure above also mentioned checking the system ASPI layer files that control the communication between CD-ROM drives and Windows programs. Using the test utility, mine where reported as having problems. So I downloaded the file to fix them that was recommended. The test utility then reported the files were then correct. But the popup window for the ASPI test utility identified itself as Windows 95, and Im running W98SE. So I tracked down another ASPI update that I found on the Adaptec website, and installed it. The files it installed were a couple of years newer. But then the test utility reported errors again. So I reinstalled the ASPI update where the Windows 95 window reported the correct files. I dont know a thing about ASPI, and was wondering if the wrong files there could possibly cause problems for EAC and Lame. Thanks for your input Chris.
