Dear MP3 Developers,

My school is developing an application for language training, and we are in need of a wave-to-mp3 and aiff-to-mp3 converter that we can redistribute.

We have no problem with open source distribution.

We can only use a converter that can be launched by our application in the background through a very simple command line or scripting communication--we don't need any serious API, and we don't need a user interface.

For example, on starting up, the converter could look for a small text file with input information: what WAV or AIFF files need to be converted to MP3, where the resulting files should be placed, and the desired compression parameters (data rate). When done, the converter should create another small text file with a report and error messages, if any.

Can one of you good people develop a converter that would do that for us? We need a converter that can run under Windows, another one that runs under Mac OS, and one for Mac OS X as well.

Please respond directly to my address (below). I'm not a developer and am not a list member.

Gratefully,
