Hi,

I am an undergraduate student doing a project about the use of psychoacoustics
in LAME.

I focus on the overshoot effect of simultaneous masking:

Overshoot effect: Increase in masked threshold for a short signal presented at
the onset of a masker compared to the threshold for a signal presented in the
temporal centre of masker. There are two kinds of overshoot effect: tone-on-
tone and tone-on-noise.

I am reading the source code of LAME. I wonder how LAME deals with noise such
as white noise and band-pass noise. Does the tonality estimation in LAME work
on tone only?

Thank you very much.

Regards,
Agnes Tsoi
