I let Gabriel or someone else comment on that as I definitively can't
help on the ACM part. Maybe he can provide you with some kind of a
debugging version of the ACM to find the cause of the problem.

As you may have seen at the link in Gabriel's mail, lame (the
executable) already works on 64bit systems (Linux, FreeBSD and I'm sure
also on Solaris and other 64bit enabled operating systems). So we are
already where you want us to go to. :-)
Besides this, the LAME project DOES NOT distribute binaries, we only
offer source code. So you CAN NOT blame us for a missing amd64 binary.
As I already told there are LEGAL reasons why we CAN NOT provide
binaries (it's about patents: providing source code is "free speech",
providing binaries without paying fees to the owners of the patents
would be breaking the law in some countries).
Another data point: Win64 is NEW, you can't expect everyone to have
access to every new gadget. If you are willing to spend a amd64 system
with Win64 and the appropriate development software for a LAME developer
who is willing to build/fix the ACM codec I'm sure it wouldn't last long
until you find a binary version of the ACM codec for amd64 somewhere in
the net. If not please respect the fact, that nobody who works on LAME
in his spare time without earning money for doing it will go out and buy
any new (and perhaps alpha or beta rated) gizmo.
If you want to reply to this mail, please respect the CC (hit "reply to
all" or at least add [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
mp3encoder.tuhs.org to the TO field of your mailinterface). Also feel
free to drop my address and only mail to the mailinglists, as I don't
develop on Windows and therefore can't help you further (I read both
lists, so if I actually have an answer for a question you will get an
answer from me even if you don't mail to me directly).
Bye,
Alexander.
