Dear gentlemen,

mine is a very unchallenging question, I hope you dont find it too
annoying but I browsed tutorials, recommendations, "help" menus and
"hydrogen audio" forum (I even tried to post there but my registration
form was bounced, who knows why) but could find no clear answer to my
inquiry.

Here it goes: I wish to try --alt-preset extreme compression on lame
3.90.3 (or 3.95.1 maybe?), but compressing in regular stereo mode and
NOT in Joint stereo mode as defined by the aforementioned preset (the
purpose of future compressed audio files is archival and I somewhat
feel that regular stereo preserves more of the original recording).
Also, I thought about switching -V 0 instead of the defined -V 2 (I
would not mind slow compression just for the promise of maybe better
results).

If I go --alt-preset extreme -m s -V 0 (I use EAC software) would I
take full advantage of the benefits of this preset only that the
compression would be stereo mode instead of joint stereo, and not very
fast? Or is it not proper as I would be "wasting" the preset in doing
so?

Thank you for your patience, for your time and your devotion.

Marcelo Curzi.
