FAAC/FAAD come to mind: http://faac.sourceforge.net/ It's not 'super high quality', but it *is* available under the GNU General Public License. Just like with MPEG-1 Layer III audio (i.e. what lame puts out), licence fees for using the AAC encoding commercially are required, of course. -- Matthew W.
