Because I plan to use the .m4a files stored on my computer for studio work/Final Scratch DJ'ing, so I don't want to import in a lossy format that I will regret using later when I play the files through a high end sound system. If I could I would just keep them on my 40GB iPod in the same format but with the size of my library I would need at least two more 40's to hold them all.

Why not just keep it as an AAC on both? It makes little sense to do what you are doing....

I am trying to convert audio files from the Apple Lossless format to LAME using the following settings: (--preset cbr 320 -q 0 -ms). Will the resulting audio quality be the same as if the files were being converted from the AIFF format? The reason I am doing this is so I can have a .m4a library on my computer and a .mp3 collection on my iPod.

Also, am I using the correct settings for maximum quality when using the LAME engine?
