Well, When doing a rip on a mac, selecting --vbr-new -V0 -q2 -p -k -ms I see using a front end app, that LAME, is ripping at 5-6x times as fast, compare to using -V0 -q2 -p -k -ms... which shows .08 - 1.1x speed of ripping.
