I'm also having trouble getting HDF5 recognized. The first problem is that a file called "deflate" isn't found in "-lz" or zlib.a. But I have a file /usr/local/zlib121-linux2.4/zlib.a which in turn has a file deflate.o in it as returned by "nm -printarmap libz.a". I tried to put the path "/usr/local/zlib121-linux2.4" in both LD_LIBRARY_PATH then later LD_FLAGS. Neither one seems to be the right place.
The HDF5 file itself is also not found, although it is "/usr/local/lib". A similar failure occurs for both MPB and MEEP. Thank you, Zachary Levine Physicist, NIST
