Dear Steven Johnson and MPB users,

In the article of Yokohama titled "Extremely Large GVD of Line-Defect
Waveguides in PC Slabs" published in Phys. Rev.Lett. (2001), at Fig. 3,
theoretical dispersion curve of line-defect PC slab is illustrated. How can
"hypothetical" index-guided and gap-guided modes (broken lines in the figure)
be obtained?

In my calculated dispersion diagram of 2D triangular lattice PC line-defect
waveguide, the even and odd defect modes change over after the light line. The
spectral properties of modes are accurate, however even mode continue in the
position of odd mode and vice-versa. Why is that happen?

Thank you very much.
Best,
