Dear professor, I am trying to calculate the band structure of a photonic crystal slab with mpb. I'm aware of the fact that modes in the light cone are not to be trusted, but how do you calculate the light cone? I guess you should be able to calculate the effective refractive index by 'averaging' the refractive index (when taking the light profile into account. But is this the way you should do it in mpb?
