Please login to boxen.math.washington.edu with your usual account,
then from there type

    $ ssh debian32

This should get you onto the very same debian 32-bit machine where I'm
working.  I've just installed git and subversion on there, just in
case that's helpful.  Note that it shares the same home directory as
you have on boxen.math.washington.edu, so you may want to work in
/tmp/ (which is deleted on reboot).
