bob's java hut at 27th and lyndale is a haven for the latest craze, large motorcycles, "hogs". i have seen much discussion about airport noise, but living on lyndale, i would say the unmuffled motorcycles are every bit as annoying as living near the airport. at least, most people who live near the airport were aware of it before the moved to the area. here, people have these load machines unknowingly foisted upon them. it is so bad that i cannot sit in my living room with the windows open during the summer and watch tv without having the volume up to an extreme level. it is unfortunate that the owners of these hogs have such low self-esteem that they need to draw attention to themselves by annoying others. it reminds me of how children love loud, noisy toys. i am mostly dismayed, however, by the inability or lack of desire by the authorities to control this obnoxious behavior, which is surely diminishing the quality of life in this neighborhood. bill turner whittier
