I have been following the Carver Model discussion. Sheldon has a good point about smaller, grassroots organization with no staff but I think even small groups with Boards can benefit from the focus the Carver Model gives them. I have been through the Carver training with a non-profit Board I serve on and it has been a great tool to help the Board focus their work and let them shape an appropriate and productive relationship between the executive director and board. It does take commitment and training. Last fall the Minnesota Council of Non Profits did a training for non-profit groups in St. Cloud. Maybe they would consider another training if there is enough interest. Second question: I am trying to comb my memory from reading the list but did someone post a while back about the link of autism in a specific Minneapolis zip code (55417?) and a possible link to environmental toxins? If this is familiar to any list recipients - you can respond on the list or to me directly. Thanks.
