Barbara Nelson asks the question about dropping the name of St. Paul from
our census name. One of the issues is that the Census Bureau wants to
change our current Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) of Minneapolis-St.
Paul to a Core Based Statistical Area (CBSA) referred to as the
Minneapolis-Fairbault-Red Wing Combined Area. Even if we went to a CBSA
model it generally uses the names of the two to three largest population
centers in that area, so St. Paul should be included. Just some factual
information.
