I wonder if the convention center managers ever vary their policies and pricing on space rental, or is the price and payment terms the same for all groups (leaving aside "volume discounts"). For instance, do significant conventions pay the same prices based on sq.ft. rented, particular meals catered, etc. I have wondered this because years ago I heard that the NAACP--while in financial difficulty--held their national convention here without the assurance of payment another group might have had to provide. Another time I went to a people-with-disabilities conference/organizing session (the promotion of a Wellstone fund-raiser to follow certainly was promotion) and got what was surely a $15 catered lunch for the $10 conference registration fee. I always wondered who was buying me lunch that day. Someone please disabuse me of the notion that (PC) politics might affect pricing at our convention center. Alan Shilepsky Downtown West
