I've just begun reading some of the postings about ballot design, etc. i'm certain as i read more i will find things with which i agree and disagree. i do think it is too early in the game to guillotine ms kiffmeyer. i was fortunate (and unfortunate) enough to have acted as election judge in a general election for the first time this year. heretofore i had only ever voted and paid scant attention to those who worked the polls. i was assigned to ward 2, precinct 2 in dinkytown far from my efficiency apartment at the continental hotel. the first omen of what was to transpire for me was missing a bus at 5:30 am. i was there at 12th and hennepin. the bus was not. and it was still not there by the time i got in the back seat of a taxicab hoping to get to work on time. i would hope to see a metro transit driver ahead of mary kiffmeyer on the scaffold steps. there may be worse precincts in the city in which to work but from my limited experience i cannot imagine that being the case. i would love to share stories of my day in voter hell but i would lose what the limited audience i am egotistical enough to believe i enjoy. my point in writing at all is this: there may be very legitimate needs for change in ballot design, site design, supply distribution, etc., but the greatest need is for nimble thinking people like those who par- ticipate on this forum to work as election judges. i have enormous respect for those i worked with on tuesday and despite my muttering in the heat of battle i will do it again. and i urge all of you who have never done it before to participate. i know that in the past i have seen lisa mcdonald working the polls at ballentine vfw post and i feel certain she would second my suggestion. tim connolly ward 7 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
