Hooray for Lynnell Mickelson and her commentary on the Greens. I couldn't agree more. It would be great if some Greens would grow up and actually become viable and work to help make the city more livable, especially downtown. The StarTrib editorial today was right on. Downtown streets ARE sterile, bleak and UGLY. Speaking of which, I have never understood why is it economically viable to have all kinds of retail space sit empty for months (years) on end? Like in City Center. If a business can't afford to operate in buildings like City Center, wouldn't you think that rents (and property taxes) on those spaces/buildings would come down until it would be viable to operate a business? Are the corporations that own those buildings getting huge tax right-offs by having those spaces sit empty? Does anyone know? Ann Wurdeman ECCO Ward 10
