I think the drug problem HAS to be dealt with as
a chemical dependency issue NOT a criminal issue.
We have been trying to "lock up" addicts for how
many years? I would appear that we all agree
that we haven't made significant progress.
Rather than blame Chief Olson for the drug
problem, I would suggest we develop a realistic
plan to deal with the addiction issues. My
understanding is that chemical dependency
treatment is less expensive than incarceration.
