A better questionnaire would be far more open ended.  Something like, "What
issue or few issues would you consider to be the most important and what
policies would you propose?"  If the candidate's emphasis is dramatically
different than what you are looking for, go elsewhere.

As an example, I would really like to see more transit and better transit in
Minneapolis, but am opposed to the current LRT plan as it has no ridership
and is dangerous.  I would like to see a busway on the current site as it
saves the real estate in case the ridership does show up, but when it proves
itself to be a failure the buses can be shifted to where they are needed and
the busway converted to an industrial strength bikepath.

On the questionnaire a weaselly candidate could tell you we need more and
better transit without really exposing their position to those who will
accept any LRT

I would also like the questions to focus on local issues and leave the
foreign policy initiatives for the comments at the end.
