Press Release For Immediate Release Contacts: Campaign Manager Chris Allison ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), Campaign Chair Jenny Heiser (612-724-3888) or Dean (612-722-8768) www.zimmerperson.org Park & Recreation Board Commissioner Dean Zimmermann Launches Campaign for 6th Ward City Council Seat Dean Zimmermann's Campaign for South Minneapolis' 6th Ward City Council seat begins with a Campaign Kick-Off this Sunday, February 11, from 1-3pm, at the Ancient Trader's Market (1113 East Franklin Avenue). Park Board Commissioner Dean Zimmermann has lived in the 6th Ward since 1968, playing an active role in a variety of on-going neighborhood groups. Currently, Dean holds a position on the board of the Green Institute, and for the past seven years has served as an elected representative from South Minneapolis on the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Ward 6 includes the Phillips, Whittier and Stevens Square neighborhoods. In a letter inviting friends and neighbors to the Campaign Kick-Off, Dean wrote: "During my years of community service I have often provided the hands-on, people-first style of leadership that I now want to take to city hall as your council member. I believe that the Minneapolis City Council is overdue for the type of leadership I know I can provide. A big part of a city council member's job, just as it is with the Park Board, is constituent service. There is nothing that I love more than working with my constituents to help them deal with the often faceless and impersonal government bureaucracy." "The Whittier, Phillips and Stevens Square neighborhoods are in the heart of the inner city. We have special needs and problems that deserve the unique leadership I know I can provide. Just as in my everyday work as a handy person, I am a fixer, a solver of problems, so also I am a builder of bridges. Bridges that will help connect our neighborhoods to the resources that are needed to help deal with many of our problems and concerns. I am seeking the support of all residents in Ward 6, not just some. I look forward to seeing you this next Sunday, February 11th at 1pm. Please join me as together we engage in the "politics of joy and justice"." In past elections, both the DFL and Green Party have endorsed Dean.
