The Minneapolis/5th District Green Party is in the process of screening
candidates for city offices: Mayor, City Council, and Park and Library
boards. Candidates interested in seeking the Green Party endorsement should
contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or call (612) 822-6593 for a screening packet
and information.

We will be considering candidates for endorsement at our Mpls/5D GP
membership meetings on the following dates (times and locations to be
announced):

Saturday, March 3
Saturday, April 7
Saturday, June 2

Screening interviews will be held at Hosmer Library on:

Saturday, February 24 from 4-6 p.m.
Saturday, March 31 from 1-5 p.m.
Saturday, May 26 from 1-5 p.m.

Participation in the candidate screening process is recommended but not
required. We do require that candidates seeking endorsement notify us in
advance of the meeting they will be attending, so that we can publicize this
to our members.

Voting in Mpls/5D GP meetings is restricted to members, although the meetings
are open to all interested participants. Our bylaws define membership as
follows:

"Membership shall be open to anyone who lives in the 5th District and shares
the purposes, goals and values of the Green Party. To become a member an
individual must have attended at least one previous meeting of the
Minneapolis/5th District Green Party and complete a designated membership
form.

An individual who lives in the 5th District, is a member of the Green Party
of Minnesota, and who is on record as having attended at least one meeting of
the Green Party of Minnesota, or who is vouched for by a member in good
standing of the Minneapolis/5th District Green Party, may also be considered
a member of the Minneapolis/5th District Green Party after completing a
designated membership form. Nonmembers may participate in group activities.
Only members, however, may vote when formal decisions are made."
