The big difference is that caucuses decide nominees (at least the ones who
abide), while this list merely informs those choices. If we had the power to
pick office holders, I'd really worry! (Well, ok, I'd love it, but I SHOULD
worry...)

I think our legitimacy is conferred by the quality of our discussion. We are
a nexus, and several segments of our membership amplify our effect. Media,
activists, and politicians all, at some point, need the endorsement of large
groups of citizens. If it's worth their time to be here, we're doing
something right. We are, collective, but one player in a big urban stew, and
don't need to be much more than that.

God forbid. Think of how many more warnings and lectures you'd have to
swallow from the list manager.
