Here is the text of the email I sent this morning to Rep.Oberstar. I hope you
are all writing your own messages to him. His office phone is (202)225-6211.

Dear Congressman Oberstar -

I was deeply disappointed by your comments on Twin City airport capacity as
reported in yesterday's StarTribune. Your suggestion that night use of the
airport be increased was especially troubling since the south metro area is
already adversely impacted by existing levels of airport racket. Increased
night airport traffic is totally unacceptable to area residents.

It is especially unfortunate to read your comments since you represent the
8th CD, home to treasured natural resources like the BWCA and North Shore,
beautiful places you have worked hard to defend. While many of us recognize
that increased airport capacity is a growing concern, its growing impact on
our south metro natural environment is increasingly unacceptable to us. We in
the south metro area treasure our natural environment too.

As a Minneapolis candidate for the 10th Ward City Council, I have pledged to
resist airport plans that would increase the already noxious impact of the
airport and to work with airport decision makers like your self to find more
acceptable ways of dealing with transport needs now. We simply cannot
insulate our way out of this, Rep. Oberstar, and  we cannot wait thirty years
for improvement.

This area is a transportation hub, yes, but it is a whole lot more to those
of us who live here. I urge you to revisit yesterday's comments and regroup
on this contentious regional issue.

Respectfully,
Ann Berget
