Another thing to consider: The bus station plan is not dead that I know of. Origonally the plan was to widen the 42nd street bridge and park buses on it. It would be a transfer from freeway buses to city street buses. Since, er, ah, cough, ahem... David and King Park area residents protested it they moved it up to the 38th streen bridge. It is likely that in addition to the extra freeway traffic on the bridge that it would also have buses to complicate things. The bridge would have to be widened - a whole bunch. On the other hand, I haven't heard much about this recently so maybe that plan died. Also I wonder how the North exit and South Entrance would affect the bike/walk bridge at 40th street. One of my hopes was that this bridge be widened and that additional space on the East end would be provided so that bikers and walkers would not be hit by the folks flying along 2nd Avenue at 40 mph who also seem to fairly consistently blow through the stop sign there.
