Representative Neva Walker's Bill House File 1065 was laid over at the House Committee On Economic Development Tourism Division. I believe Rep Larson-DFL motioned that it be laid over. Translation-dead. Legal Aid was in support of the bill. They indicated that higher rents might occur if landlords passed the cost of screening on to existing renters. They found this an acceptable cost to bare for current residents. The question that hits home to Minneapolis is as follows. Many landlords were late to implementing a serious screening process. Now they are doing it. How many would stop if they can't apply the screening cost? This would be a dramatic step backward in our attempt to get a hold of some of the issues pertaining to rental property. I hold out hope that there still can be some middle ground that Legal Aid and the Landlords can get together on this issue some day. No wonder he is no knowledgeable. He has a ringside seat everyday! And he gets paid for this. I am jealous. _______________________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - Minnesota E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
