When I came here in 73, coming originally from Cincinnati, then IL, then NY, I
had to learn to "be like a Minnesotan" and not toss junk out the window. Too, I
made my nut every day, as a kid, picking up beer and coke bottles (Nehi and
Barques too) and selling them to the bartender at the corner. The city had
trash guys with sticks with a nail on the end who travelled the neighborhoods
too. But I digress.
I learned from Minnesotans not to trash. Luckily I'm quick, it only took about
half a day and one of those Minnesota stares. I've been trying to develop that
stare ever since.
