This is a place to get one's hoof solidly ensconced in one's mouth.

With apologies in advance Jackie and Linda
Jackie could maybe qualify as a show horse, but she "runs" like a derby
winner--Kentucky Derby. There are 14 horses in the race, all two-year olds, all
thoroughbred Arabs, direct descendants of the five horses imported to this country
in 17xx, as I recall. Jackie is not a two-year old filly, she's way more seasoned
than that. She is not yet a Triple Crown winner, but life isn't over either.
Linda is more like a Percheron, a sturdy wonderful horse chosen for its ability to
tolerate cold weather and pull heavy loads without breaking a sweat, even after
long treks. Big shoulders, 17-18 hands high. (Before he turned to a largely
unsuccessful life of petty crime, my father was a jockey--and a dude of
considerable style and grace.

This is another hoof 'n mouth opportunity. Jim's an Irishman. Ireland has horses
on its silver coins--and harps--he may understand the analagy genetically.
Certainly both my Irish grandfathers attitudes seemed to express as much. It's not
every kid whose parents require her to know some of the history of the horse,
beginning with eohyppus, a 15 inch long, five toed progenator of our modern
horses.WMarks, Central
