I think that we should all be concerned about this, not only by the project 
itself, but by the confrontational and oppositional process used to make the 
decision to go ahead with it. 

If 6 out of 13 people have serious concerns and reservations about something of 
this importance it seems that the appropriate thing to do is to listen to those 
concerns and to see if they are legitimate in terms of the goals and mission of 
the group, in this case the city.  If they are (and I happen to believe that in 
this case they were) then it is completely within the best interest of the group
and of the city council's process to attempt to address these concerns and work 
to a compromise or a consensus that would incorporate them into the final, and 
most likely better, decision.

There was plenty of room for patience, cooperation, respect for diversity and 
for compromise in this case.  It is too bad that all seem to have been in such 
short supply last Friday.
