Lisa:
Thanks for giving me your web site URL.
For your information, I am critical of anyone that runs negative campaigns. It was very important to me as the campaign manager for Neva Walker, that we did not run a negative campaign of any type. For me, one can run on their own integrity and understanding of the issues. I find that if the candidate has that integrity it will come through in the delivery of their message, making the need to point out opponents' negativities unnecessary.
I don't tend to protect anyone. Those that I support usually have the strength to do that for themselves.
I look forward to studying your web site and posting you personally and publicly on my issues of concern.
Take good care,

Matthea, I certainly appreciate your concerns. As we both know you are
supporting the mayor and understandably are protective of your candidate,
and that is laudable. I think it is appropriate to call attention to the
mayor's track record and for me, that is based on seven years of not seeing
enough action on issues that I think are important to the city...affordable
housing, basic services, good development, etc. As to my platform I would
direct you to my web site www.mcdonaldformpls.org. I don't want to exceed
list members' tolerance for too many e-mails. It has all my position papers
and game plan. The only things currently missing are public safety, city
building, glbt, basic services, immigrants and transit. Those will be added
this weekend. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
In running against an incumbent you have to make the case as to why the
incumbent needs to be voted out of office. That's not trashing, that is just
calling the record as you see it. A candidate also needs to lay out a plan
and a vision for what they will do. That is reflected in my votes during my
years in office and in the positions I've laid out as part of my campaign.
I know that calling the mayor's record into question might make her
supporters uncomfortable but ithe reason I'm running is I do think that we
can do better.
