I read with interest the article about "Third Ward Neighbors in Action".
After first learning of the group a month or so ago, I was excited that
others were agitating for change in north Minneapolis, but after this
article about the group, I have my doubts about their credibility and
suitability. Their continued secretiveness is not conducive to open
discussion and the democratic process.
Supposedly, they have interviewed twelve people and found four acceptable.
Well, what are their criteria for deeming a person acceptable? And who are
their members? What do they stand to lose by outing themselves?

Subject: [Mpls] Neighborhood papers Vol 1 No. 1
A while ago I suggested we use this list to track news reported by
neighborhood newspapers.
I got generally positive response, but no volunteers. I’ll get it started
and
see if others on the list are interested/willing to post.
The idea is not to note every item, but major news stories and editorial
positions. Maybe newspaper editors/publishers on the list would forward
their
own...
I welcome feedback.
(I guess it violates a decorum rule, but I did headlines in CAPS for easier
reference)

POLITICAL GROUP IS KEEPING SOME SECRETS.. Mike Anderson reports that Third
Word Neighbors in Action, a group of which Landra Kelley is the only
publicly
identified member, is organizing to put up a candidate to oppose Joe
Biernat.
ONE YEAR LATER, AND STILL NO KONDIRATOR. Mike Anderson reports that American
Iron says it is “negotiating to buy a metal shredder.” Court fights
continue about payment of the $750,000 city settlement.
Park Board Candidate. Kerry Ashmore reports that Jon Olson, owner of the
Camden Dairy Queen, is planning to run for a citywide Park Board seat. (n.b.
Tim Bonham).
Editorial. The paper opposes proposed legislation to allow governments in
Hennepin and Ramsey to discontinue publication of legal notices in
newspapers
if the notices a published on the web.
