If you talk to taggers or read the posts on the websites like twin cities
graffiti, you will find out that doing graffiti is not real unless it is
vandalism. The object is to become famous for doing the most damage.
Graffiti is physical evidence that there are criminals in your neighborhood
doing criminal activity. Trashing a Mom and Pop store with spray paint or the
Bethany Lutheran Church daycare van is not something that should be
encouraged. Don't let pro graffiti propaganda convince you that taggers are
Rosa Parks with a spray can-------
And it is hideously ugly. Almost all the graffiti in my neighborhood is
inane drippy ups or crude scrathes. We have removed 1000 tags in Seward and
there another 100 out there.
Yes, I pick up litter
Yes, I am working on a regional anti-litter campaign
Yes, I help organize clean sweep
Yes, I help organize the Mississippi watershed clean up
Yes, I work on art projects in my neighborhood
Yes, I raise funds for science and arts for youth in my neighborhood
Both litter and graffiti have a collateral effect of increasing other crimes.
Let's pick up the trash, and love art, not crime.

Can any council members who read this tell me why the sentence to serve
contract was not renewed ? If I understand this correctly, right now a Judge
doesn't have the ability to sentence graffiti vandals to clean up graffiti or
litter because the council in its wisdom has said this is not a priority and
should not be funded.
