Hi Folks: There was an Insight Article about the 6th ward debate at Lucille's Kitchen. Interestingly enough, the DFL endorsed candidate, Dean Kallenbach, was the only candidate who wasn't present at the debate. Rick Stafford sat in for him. There were quotes and pictures of a number of list members. Matthea Little Smith was featured prominently in the article. Anyway, 6th ward will be interesting: It looks like the following folks are still running (from that really nice elections page): Barb Lickness DFL Phone: 612-870-9214 Email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: http://www.barblickness.com/ Campaign manager: Terry Erickson, 612-871-0046, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dean Zimmermann Green Phone: 612-722-8768 Email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: http://www.zimmerperson.org/ Campaign manager: Chris Allison, 651-523-0639, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dean Kallenbach DFL Phone: 612-872-6907 Email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Campaign manager: Rick Stafford, 612-728-9495, mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Shada Buyobe-Hammond DFL Phone: 612-872-1149, 651-642-9639 (O) Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: http://www.voteshada.org/ Campaign manager: Sasha Baltins, 651-642-9639 or 612-296-6195 (cel), [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tamir Nolley Grassroots/Green/Independence Phone: 612-872-4188 Email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: http://www.nolleytrolley.org/ Campaign manager: Ellie Fregni, [EMAIL PROTECTED] -------------------------------------------------- So Palmer is the only one who dropped out. Seems like 6th ward will be a wide open race. That will be helpful for the ward. I'm surprised in a way that there wasn't an effort to block endorsement at the 6th. Also, it was really interesting that the barely won victory for Dean Kallenbach required the floor work of Jackie Cherryhomes, Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton, and State Senator Linda Berglin. I don't get why folks didn't just say let's block endorsement here. I think this endorsement will hurt the DFL in the long run. A few days back, David Brauer opined that Shirley Carlson wasn't a significant challenge in the 10th ward. Shirley Carlson has done all the right things. She's been active with the community a long time, active with her neighborhood association, she has run for office before (School Board). Is it an uphill battle? Sure. What's going to be important is who comes out of that primary. I've heard that the St Paul Stonewall folks didn't use the DFL endorsement litmus test for endorsing candidates. Interesting huh?
