Hi Folks:
Rich Stafford writes of Jonathan Palmer:
It should also be mentioned you original campaign manager and supporter,
Matthea Little Smith, pointedly scolded you about your "block endorsement"
strategy after you dropped after the second ballot. Especially, since you
had indicated up to the day of the convention that an endorsement of a
candidate was important.
---------------------------------
I'd like to hear from Matthea Little Smith on this point.
---------------------------------------------
Just admit it Jonathan, you didn't like the results and you really only
wanted to abide if you were the endorsed candidate.
If you decide to run, the question I will ask and I'm sure what others
will, is if we can not believe you at a convention on an issue, what will
citizens be able to believe in you as a member of the city council.
------------------------------------
As far as that goes, this is all pretty mickymouse. Who cares about DFL
endorsement except for party hacks? Do folks in the DFL seriously want to
have those ward conventions be the sole deciding factor on who represents
the wards in the city council, and who becomes mayor? We in the City of
Minneapolis deserve better than that.
It seems to me, that at the last State Convention, didn't the DFL pass a
resolution encouraging Wellstone to break his term limits promise? And
this question sounds eerily familiar: wasn't it the one that Bradley asked
Gore in a debate?
Regarding who was working the floor for Kallenbach, the mayor's campaign
manager has written me stating the mayor was not working the floor for
Kallenbach, though the Mayor was at the convention, and was talking with
delegates. Cap said that Jackie Cherryhomes would have to speak for
herself on this.
