This is my first post to the list, so please be patient. I'm going to try
to address some issues list members have raised regarding Third Ward
Neighbors In Action. We are a group of neighbors (residents and business
owners)in Third Ward that feel we need a change in our council member. As
such, we formed a committee, raised a little money and ran a few ads,
looking for viable candidates to run against the Third Ward incumbent. Our
"headquarters" is not in St. Paul. We have a message line, and the company
issuing that line couldn't guarantee that our phone number wouldn't be
changed if we received a 612 area code, so we opted to take a 651 area code
so we wouldn't have to change telephone numbers midstream. We are not a
covert or secret group, but as President, I did not feel comfortable giving
out personal information on other members to Mr. Anderson of North
News/Northeaster. Contrary to what was stated in the North
News/Northeaster, we did not find any candidates "unacceptable" unless they
were not residents of Third Ward (City enforced criteria). Third Ward
Neighbors In Action is planning a "summit" to gather information on the top
concerns of the NRP funded neighborhood groups in Third Ward, May 8th, 7:00
p.m., at Catholic Eldercare Atrium, 817 N.E. Main Street, Minneapolis. At
least two candidates for the Third Ward council seat are planning on
attending this meeting, and we encourage all concerned Third Ward neighbors
and business owners to come. If you would like additional information,
please feel free to contact our message phone, at (651) 251-0545, and we
will get back to you as soon as possible. Our next scheduled Third Ward
meeting is Saturday, April 7th, at 9:30 a.m., being held at 1528 Marshall
N.E. Many of us feel there are lots of things that can be changed at City
Hall to benefit our great city.

Landra Kelley
Resident of Third Ward
President Third Ward Neighbors In Action
