"Regarding the VV meeting last night:

I was invited to the meeting by Mr. Walsh as a guest for their development.
I was briefed about his project and that it would be serving the Somali
community, which I have an interest in. Therefore, I agreed to come along
(by myself). My other brothers happened to be there to present another
issue at the meeting on their behalf. I, however, noticed that there was
some racial tension while at the meeting, which was quite similar to the
racial tension felt in Central. While gathering info about the meeting, I
observed several violations of the VV organization versus the state law.
Among these was the prevention of participation of members of the VV (those
that normally should be able to vote according to the bylaws). I in no
way, shape or format have any financial interest in anything on the agenda,
so I have no idea where Rob came up with his conclusion that I was trying
to pack a meeting last night. I was simply present on behalf of Steve
Walsh. I hope the people of V!
V will continue with their good work and am only asking that people keep
their mind open to some projects that need "sharpening", such as the one
that was presented last night. Personally, I'm not an advocate of PPL,
however I am an advocate of finding homes for large families and immigrants.

Sincerely,

Basim Sabri

Hi Mr. Sabri, thanks for the clarification. So as I understand it, you
will gain nothing financially should this project go through?

The underlying conflict appears to be between homeowners who want to
gentrify the neighborhood by removing low income residents and replacing
them with more affluent homeowners, versus community residents who want to
improve the neighborhood for the benefit of the current ethnically and
economically diverse residents.

As I understand it, the proposal is for housing for the chronically
homeless.
