Connie:
I've sen your hair and it is quite nice. Don't pull it
out.
I'm confused about what Ventura Village actually is?
Is it a neighborhood? A 501(c)3 corporation? i don't
get it.
The thought there was actually a sign that said
"Members only" is makes my skin crawl. This all sounds
pretty discriminatory.
It proves the point that snobbishness is not the sole
province of the rich. Apparently, even in a depressed
neighborhood such as Phillips(isn't V.V. still a part
of Phillips?) there can be cliques that take it upon
themselves to dictate to others. It sounds like
tyranny of the active minority. But then I'm not an
active participant just someone from the outside
trying to understand.
I also don't get what Bob Miller has to do with all
this. Isn't the NRP involved with neighborhood
organizations and not an adviser to non-profit
organizations? Is this a conflict of interest?
I do not want to diss the work that V.V. may be doing.
i just don't understand how a non-profit developer can
also be a neighborhood organization.
As to PPL allowing drug sales and prostitution on the
corner where Franklin Crossing exists I though that
was the purview of MPD. Am I wrong?
Does this then mean that we can look forward to V.V.
having its own paramilitary police force?
Frankly I'm almost more alarmed by the preponderance
of private security firms employing poorly trained
people to police corners like Chicago-Franklin than I
am with the ways in which MPD seem to ignore civil
liberties. i will point out that Abuka Sanders was
first spotted by a Spartan Security officer who
followed him throughout south Minneapolis until he had
a chance to block him into an alley where MPD could
pepper his vehicle with 34 rounds of ammo.
Something is seriously wrong here.
The ends, however well meaning they may be, never
justify using means that ignore the rule of law.
As near as I can tell the people in V.V., at least the
real hijackers at this last meeting, would not agree.
