High creek flows have resulted in a number of people calling the
Watershed office to find out about canoeing the creek. We do have a
recorded message that is available at all times to give people the
creek flow information at 925.471.0590.

For those of you who do not know it, the upper watershed source of
water for Minnehaha Creek is Lake Minnetonka. One of our engineers
from Wenck, Rebecca Kluckhohn, put together a nice graph showing the
relationship between
the April 2001 rain events and the corresponding changes in Lake
Minnetonka levels. It has been posted to our website at:

 http://www.minnehahacreek.org/

To take a look at it click below the figure that says Lake Levels Are
Up, "To view Lake Levels" . FYI, the lake rose about 10 inches over
last weekend from 928.62 to 929.46. It is now slightly above the 30
year average for this time of the year. We are not opening the dam as
yet since conditions on the creek are near flood level. When the
creek comes down in a few days we will begin opening the dam for the
first time in almost two years.

While you are at the Web site you may also want to take a look at the
Water Quality Report Cards we just released for about 30 lakes and
streams in the Minnehaha Creek Watershed, including most of those in
Minneapolis. Also included are the Report Cards for the last several
years.
