Jon...I'm not on a neighborhood board but I am active in the neighborhood
activities...very active! As a resident it is certainly nice to have some
paid staff because they are then available to answer questions, assist in
solving problems, and supportive to volunteer activity. Without paid staff
these issues are dependent on the available time of other volunteers. So as
a resident I will tell you that it is most helpful to have staff. In our
neighborhood we have a part time person and only one...most useful, she is a
resident too so she knows the neighborhood extremely well...she is
wonderful, fair, and understands that she shouldn't put her opinion into the
mix...she is there to help and assist everyone! She does a wonderful job at
serving the needs of our little group and I respect that she is very
objective and extremely pleasant in all of her dealings...so not only is the
position useful the right person helps too! I only fear that the pay isn't
what she deserves and many of her hours at this job are also volunteer...!
None-the-less she serves the role well!! Her priority is Bottineau! It is
cool...I'd try it if I were you!

One person's opinion
