And now Huzzah for Annie Young for having the strength of her convictions!
No need for a litmus test here! A stale, inbred oligarchy has been dealt
another stinging blow! Annie's credentials are long-standing and impressive.
Her eco-friendly accomplishments include her fierce defense of her home
neighborhood - not just resisting the garbage-burner in Phillips but
offering a premier replacement via her contributions to the Green Institute
and her participation in helping to establish the living-wage jobs with
benefits and sound economic basis for the Re-Use Center. I don't know the
half of it - I'll have to wait for her literature. But I know that Annie's
presence on the Park Board helps assure that Minneapolis' grand open space
traditions are kept alive. Annie is a rare gem, frankly, and I hope my
fellow DFL delegates will join me in wishing her good luck and Godspeed
whatever the party rules to the contrary. Here is an opportunity to embrace,
indeed, to celebrate diversity. The voters will not miss this train and
neither will I.
