Buried in the archives of local endorsement arcana is the 1993 city DFL
endorsement of Ron Otterson. Several local luminaries spoke on his behalf and
it was an overwhelming first ballot slam dunk for Otterson. Unfortunately
Otterson was in serious trouble both personal and professional at the time
(Although many Otterson supporters knew about this trouble, it concealed at
the convention - in the Rip/Sharon fray, who cared about insignificant
offices like the Board of Ed?) but shortly thereafter when the mess came out
in the press he became an ex-candidate.
Are these endorsements carefully considered? Go figure.
