John Erwin is seeking DFL endorsement this Saturday and will
abide.
FATHER. TEACHER. GARDENER EXTRAORDINAIRE!
In the '70s, John Erwin worked as a nursery laborer. In the '80s he
ran his own landscaping business. Today, Erwin teaches the next
generation of park employees at the University of Minnesota.
Erwin says, "As a father of two children involved with sports teams
at Matthews and Powderhorn Park, I will support youth and sports
activities. As a neighborhood activist and former board member of
Seward Neighborhood Group, I will increase community
involvement in park planning. As a trained landscape designer and
floriculturist, I will protect the native habitat in the park system and
increase the diversity of plant materials to support more diverse
species of wildlife."

Erwin holds a Ph.D. in Floriculture Production and teaches as an
Associate Professor of Horticultural Science at the University of
Minnesota. He is an extension specialist for commercial flower
growers across the state. He is a board member of the Minnesota
Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen and former manager of the
Cowles Conservatory in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. He has
worked as a horticultural therapist with senior citizens and is an
advisor to 4H & Future Farmers of America.
