I think they are mad that Minneapolis overwhelmingly voted for Gore, and
also ends up giving statewide victories to Democratic candidates because it
is so heavily democratic. That's purely speculation. However part of the
reason I speculate this way, is I got a recent communication from my
district chair, which stated part of the reason we need to get organized is
to decrease the margin of votes in Minneapolis for Gore by encouraging
people to vote for Bush. That helps the statewide GOP candidates and the
Bush campaign, but does nothing to build a vibrant Republican party in our
city. I think the way we build a good party in this city is run credible
candidates in races...... and give them financial and logistical support.

The problem is they won't lessen the DFL stranglehold on Minneapolis by
acting like this. It would also help if here in our city we would elect a
few Republicans. A minneapolis republican - or two - at the table might
have changed the way this was done.

It's also why I really hope Shirley Carlson wins that 10th ward seat. If
she does win that seat, I think she can be key to working with the house
Republican Caucus.

The one positive thing I see, is the Midwest Republican Leadership
conference will be held in our fair city.

How would things be different on this issue, if we had Terrell Brown in the
legislature?
