I was at the Stonewall DFL endorsement screenings. I
am a Stonewall DFL member and an active supporter and
campaign worker for the Barb Lickness campaign.
I do not recall anytime during the 6th ward discussion
where the issue of Fair Oaks park was discussed.
Furthermore, I fail to see how this issue is of
consequence in a screening about GLBT issues.
It was evident to me and many people at the screening
that many of the people in the room were not from the
6th ward including Mr.Stafford.
The issue regarding Barb's political alliance was not
discussed during this screening. However, Mr.
Stafford seems to find it necessary to continually
throw this out there. Barb did run as an independent
in 1993 with no endorsements other than the National
Organization of Women. So what. Barb has been a
registered democrat since 1994. Is there a tenure
period before you are pronounced a true DFLer? Judy
Dutcher just switched from being a Republican to a
DFLer a few months ago and has now decided to run for
Governor. I hear no one chastizing her.
I agree with Terry Erickson that it is time for Dean
Kallenbach to post to this list himself. Tim Bonham
indicated that the candidates that were endorsed by
Stonewall all had strong records of community
involvement. I would like to know what Dean's list
would be comprised of? I have been active in the
Whittier neighborhood for the past 12 years. I have
worked side by side with Barb on a large variety of
issues but I have not seen Dean actively work on any
project or committee in this neighborhood. I know that
the work Barb has done in Whittier coupled with her
experience in NRP make her an excellent candidate for
City Council.
Perhaps the Kallenbach campaign caan begin talking
about the experience their candidate has regarding his
community involvement in the 6th ward.
