Once again, Mr. Piehl is trying to manipulate my words and efforts I have
made to accommodate and work with the neighbors who are affected by my
proposal on 2nd Ave.

response:
**I repeated your statements as I understood them; if that was not the sentiment
you
intended to convey, then it is more productive to re-state your position/intent
rather than speculate about motives and then make accusations, unless character
assasination is the goal.

Basim Wrote:
Unfortunately, Mr. Piehl and a few others continue to
hope for artist housing at that location and will oppose any other proposals
for the site.

Response:
**For the record, there are numerous possibilities for that
site that I would support, many are ideas generated by Basim. While I consider
Artist housing at that site to be one of the many possibilities that would
benefit the
neighborhood, I have not actively promoted that specific useage for several
months; my goal is to zero-in on something that we can all agree on, and I
believe that is possible.

For the record, I never said that I would go around CM Herron to get a hotel
built. (Mr. Piehl's commentary is simply heresay). I do respect CM Herron in
his efforts to bring the neighborhood together, though I disagree with what
appears to be his opinion in the Strib article regarding the hotel.

response:
**I recall that you specifically stated you would "go around" CM Herron;
certainly this
is figurative language that perhaps was only intended to imply that it is
technically
possible to get approval for the "motel" project without CM Herron's support,
again,
a simple clarification of your position is all that is required. And, for
clarification, a first hand account is not generally considered heresay.

Basim Wrote:
I never indicated that this will be an ultimatum for usage at the site. It is a
proposal that has been created based on suggestions from the neighborhood.

response:
**Agreed, you did not call it an ultimatum, I suggested that it be considered a
starting
point for all concerned, and not an ultimatum. (to ensure that it not become an
"all or nothing debate)

Basim Wrote:
I will bring it before the CNIA Business Dev. committee then onto CNIA, who is
the legitimate association for this neighborhood.

response:
**CNIA does not have a citizen participation contract with the MCDA, and is
currently unable to access Central's NRP funding: while I don't intend to get on
to a tangent as to why these things have occurred, the word "legitimate" may be
a huge exaggeration at this point, particularly in light of Eva's points of
information regarding the subject.

I look forward to reviewing the proposal tomorrow.

Regards

David Piehl
Central Resident
